We all know that Obama ran for the presidency under the banner of 'change'. Given that you don't change something that's working, I must assume that Mr. Obama believes this country is broken, and that he must now get it fixed.
I've been seeing various bits of commentary about President-Elect Obama's Cabinet choices. The commentary mostly seems to be surprise at the choices, considered by some to be more moderate than expected. There seems to be some question of whether or not P-E Obama maybe really can provide change - again, it seems that many believe that he really will get the nation fixed.
Looking at the evidence, I'm somewhat willing to agree. P-E Obama will at least try to get the nation fixed.
Social Security? He'll no doubt get it fixed.
National Health Care? I'm sure, now, that he'll get that fixed also.
The Military, and our standing with other nations and non-national bodies? He'll make sure those get fixed as well.
And, I note that yesterday, my local paper carried a small article about the Obamas and their attempt to choose a new dog for the White House. I hope they find a good one, and that they have much joy of it. And I hope that Mr. Obama is a responsible pet owner.
I hope he gets the dog fixed, too.
